During a recent episode of my podcast, I was deep in conversation with
when she shared something First Horse teaches her:Ask a different question.
He doesn’t ask us to find a better answer. He doesn’t ask us to push harder for clarity. First Horse asks us to just—pause and shift, to look at things from a different angle. He asks us to keep asking until the right question finally lands — and we know we’ve found the right question when we don’t have to ask a different question anymore.
His wisdom stuck with me. It felt like the kind of knowledge that doesn’t just apply to horses but to everything—relationships, grief, uncertainty, change. It made me think about all the times I’ve tried to force an answer and all the times I’ve felt stuck in my own thinking.
First Horse reminds me that I have let go of control so something new can emerge.
I kept coming back to First Horse’s words, turning them over in my mind. And I knew I wanted to talk more about it. Not just with Tamar, but with all of you.
That’s how this workshop was born.
A Conversation, Not a Lecture
Next Thursday, I’ll be sitting down with Tamar Reno again, this time live on Zoom, for a conversation about what it really means to ask a different question—whether in in our personal lives, with the horses, or in the way we navigate a world that often demands certainty when none exists.
This isn’t a lecture or a structured training. It’s an open discussion. A space to reflect, to sit with uncertainty, and to explore the questions we often don’t even think to ask.
Some of what we’ll explore includes:
How shifting our questions changes the way we approach nature, relationships, and challenges.
The tension between searching for answers and sitting with the unknown.
What horses can teach all of us about patience, presence, and perspective.
Why traditional ways of thinking often limit connection—and how to break out of that cycle.
Whether you work with horses or not, this conversation is for anyone who has ever felt stuck, anyone who has wrestled with uncertainty, anyone who has ever wondered if they might be asking the wrong question altogether.
